A once-daily semaglutide tablet, the first GLP-1 tablet authorised for weight management in the UK. It must be swallowed whole on an empty stomach. Rybelsus (also oral semaglutide) is licensed for type 2 diabetes only.

How to take it
Swallow the tablet whole on an empty stomach, after at least 8 hours without food, with a sip of water. Then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines.

When to get urgent help

Stop taking the medicine and get urgent medical help (NHS 111, A&E or 999) if you have severe, persistent stomach pain that may spread to your back, signs of a serious allergic reaction, or yellowing of your skin or eyes. Report suspected side effects to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
